Headington Bowls Club was founded in 1924 with two rinks on old Oxford United football ground.

We moved to our present location in 1932. In 1974, the EBA visited the club to celebrate its 50th anniversary, and in memory of Jack Stow's amazing achievement of having been the club secretary for 50 years!

In 1977, the club's pavilion burned down. The replacement was erected within 9 months, and has since been improved to offer first-class facilities to its members and guests.

Headington Bowls Club has spawned many champions over the years and may be regarded as the most successfull club in the whole of Oxfordshire in this regard. For the last 12 years Headington Bowls Club has been one of the most successful clubs in the County, winning many County Finals and is very successful in the Oxfordshire Bowls League and League Cup, winning on many occasions.

Just look at the achievements in our Gallery page on this website.

Not only can they bowl but some also had green fingers. Headington Bowls Club received many awards through the effords of a team of keen gardeners who made it all happen. In one of the photographs you see Jenny Townsend and Beryl Harris, part of the team of keen gardeners, with the 2010 trophy.
